Last week, Kira from CallmeShopaholic, Caro from Cocoswonderland and I went to Provence to discover the new scent Terre de Lumière by L’Occitane. The complete journey stood under the motto #ChasingtheGoldenHour – ’cause the very special light of Provence inspired L’Occitane to create their new perfume Terre de Lumière. So, we were about to experience the fruity fresh and sensual scent with all our senses during the upcoming three days.
Our journey started in the early morning from Cologne, across Munich to Marseille. About 1,5 hour’s drive later we stood in front of our beautiful hotel Le Couvent de Minimes, located in the middle of Provence. The lavender fields, for which Provence is very well-known for, unfortunately don’t bloom this time of the year, but the landscape, the light and the buildings – everything had been so unbelievably beautiful, that I can hardly imagine how wonderful it must be, when there additionally are wide purple lavender fields in-between.
Some surprises had been waiting for us in our rooms – including the new scent Terre de Lumière, that, with it’s fresh and aromatic opening, it’s exceptional Gormand-notes and it’s sensual base notes, perfectly fits into the picturesque nature of Provence. To link the time spend in Provence with the scent in my memory and to experience everything with the scent, I directly applied it.
In the evening we had the chance to get to know the lovely L’Occitane team and all the other (super sweet and interesting) international bloggers. But because the next day was supposed to start pretty early, we went to our rooms soon.
Chasing the Golden Hour
04:30 Uhr.
Our timers rang really early on this Friday morning. Reason was a hot-air ballon ride, that L’Occitane organized for us to show us the full beauty of Provence with it’s diversified landscape and it’s exceptional light in the morning hours. When we left the hotel to drive to the hot-air ballon ride, it was still freezing, but L’Occitane had lots of blankets for us, so that it turned out to be really cozy in the end. After the hot-air ballons had been inflated super quickly, the ride started in time. I never did a hot-air ballon ride before and, friends, I swear it was breathtaking! I cannot imagine a more idyllic view than in this morning from the hot-air ballon over beautiful Provence. The different shades of green and yellow of the fields and trees, the mellow light in the morning hours, the blue sky, the thoughtful silence above there and the fresh Terre de Lumière scent – it has been a perfect moment for all senses.
Terre de Lumière
On midday everything was about the new Terre de Lumière scent. It started with an interesting perfume workshop, that gave us a little insight into the craft of perfumery. After that we hit the road to experience the Terre de Lumière scent a little more. And according to the superior light motto the location couldn’t have been more on point: L’Occitane lead us to a hall, where old chandeliers from all over the world get restored. The hall was full of the most different chandeliers from different countries and eras. Impressive. Surrounded by this fairytale-like scenery, Olivier Baussan, founder of L’Occitane, presented us the new Terre de Lumière scent and told us how the light and the landscape of Provence inspired him to create the sensual new scent and flacon. ‘Cause not only the scent describes the golden hour, but also the flacon is supposed to remind of a sundown.
In the evening we made it to another very special location: a private villa with an exceptional view over Provence. Inside the villa, a beautifully decorated dinner table had been waiting for us. And the dinner, made of local ingredients, was awesome. With the best wines of Provence we enjoyed the rest of the evening. This very intimate and sensual dinner again perfectly fit the new Terre de Lumière scent.
Oldtimer Ride & Insta Give Away
For the last day L’Occitane had another highlight for us – a drive with three super cute 2CV vintage cars. Unfortunately, it was raining cats and dogs this morning, so that we only did a little trip and went to another beautiful villa to have lunch afterwards. The lunch also was made of local ingredients and had been just divine.
And as every journey has to come to an end, Kira, Caro and I went to the airport after the lunch to go back to Munich and Cologne.
The journey to Provence was supposed to show us, what inspired L’Occitane to create the new Terre de Lumière scent and let us experience the scent with all our senses. To me the fresh and fruity note symbolizes the untouched, picturesque nature of Provence with its wide fields, its thoughtful silence and it’s fresh and clear air. The exceptional and sensual notes discribe the moment of the golden hour, shortly before the sun goes down and the warming rays of sunshine cover the landscape in golden light. I’m pretty sure that the scent will always remind me of this beautiful and exciting journey to Provence.
And if you like to discover the new scent by your own, you now have the chance to win one of three Terre de Lumière scents on my Instagram account. <3
Besides the give away, L’Occitane also has a special offer at the moment: with the code GOLD17 you’ll get an exclusive Terre de Lumière duo for free, if you order something from the online shop. The duo consists of a shimmering balm (10 ml) and an Eau de Parfum Terre de Lumière (1,2 ml). The code is valid until 30.05.2017.
– The car ride from the airport to the hotel was horrible. The driver bombed down the windy streets of Provence so fast that Kira, Caro and I felt really sick when we arrived at the hotel.
